Antique Quilt

At this moment we have a antique quilt in the shop ! It is from 1830/50 . I need to share it with you because the quilt is so MAVERICK .
I advice you to click on the pictures to enlarge it to the max. size , the fabrics are so interesting !!
The size of the strips are finished 5/8 inch wide ( 1.5 cm) and the size of the block is 6.5 inch ( 16.5 cm)

Gerda , a very nice woman ( she is special for me ) , reproduced this quilt. I will share it with you too.. She did a great job !!

close up from Gerda's quilt .

Lucy I love this quilt and Gerda's version too!! I am nearly done a Dear Jane quilt using CW repros, and I can see this becoming a great way to use the tiny scraps I can't bear to throw away!

Thanks for sharing!

I love this quilt...so Many fabrics to look at! I have two bags of scraps I was going to give away this weekend but now? They could have a home! Also, the border setting on this is very dramatic - liek it!

You are right, Lucy, this in an incredible antique MAVERICK quilt. Fantastic. I love the colors: pink, red, maroon, browns, navy, baby blue. Wow. I want it. How lucky you are to get to see it in the shop.
Gerda did a marvelous job recreating it. Wonderful.

That is a wonderful quilt. I cannot imagine having used those tiny pieces and cutting them all with scissors! That is just beautiful!

What a terrific string quilt, Lucy! And Gerda's is a very fine reproduction, that's for certain.

Wow! 5/8 finished!

I came back to see the quilts...AGAIN! I love them so much. Siobhan even started one at retreat and I was drooling over the scraps she was using! This definately has to be made in my book. I might do it bigger, because my scraps are 1.5" cut. I looked at Gerda's close up and smiled when I saw the dutch plaids in it that are similar to the ones you gave me! :cD
