Our third child is born with a rare chromosome disorder. She is mentally handicapted and have a autistic disorder. She is now 11 and have a mental age from 6 years. She is going to a special school. We have in the 11 years going through a lot with her . Although her behaviour can be very difficult she belong to us! I will share with you what she last told me:
"Mama you are very lucky !"
Oh yes, why ?
"because you have a handicapted child and not everyone have "!!
O yes, I am definitely lucky with having you !
This is one of those moments that she surprised me, and that she warms my heart !

I can totally agree with that :-)
I think you are both very lucky, Lucy!
Yes, you are BOTH lucky. What a doll...with that little bit of smile happening. :o)
She is an absolutely beautiful child, and it doesn't sound like her spirit is handicapped at all..*VBS*
Hi Lucy, I'm with Finn she is beautiful and you are very lucky to have a special girl...My goddaughter works with special needs children, many are autistic and she has such great stories of their accomplishments but I also know from her stories that they can have great struggles also...I hope your Dad is doing better with spring being here.Huggles Tina
She's very lovely, with the sun shining on her hair. The best of luck for her future!
oh Lucy, she is so sweet and special-my nephew is the same, though he is now 15 going on??
Oh yes, Lucy - she and you are both lucky - and she is a beautiful little girl!
One of my friends has a special needs daughter and when they have some "hard spots" they call them "Becky ripples". I hope this translates for you, it's certainly endearing to hear "ripples" instead of difficulties!
Aw she is adorable. As a mom of a special needs child also (my middle son Jordan has spina bifida) I know how sweet the sweet moments are :) totally makes up for alot doesnt it? xoxo melzie
You have obviously reached her heart, Lucy...even through all of the challenges. Bless you.
God gives us many gifts that take on many different forms. With faith and hope, we find how to live with His gifts.
Oh, she is beautiful, yes, she is right you are definitely lucky, Lucy... Bless you and all your children...
That brought a tear to my eye Lucy !
You are both lucky, or maybe that is blessed instead of luck : )
What a beautiful child she is. Wisdom from a very special child !
I know how precious those moments are. Makes up for a lot of cloudy days. Smiles to both of you :-) and thanks for sharing !
You are so very lucky and she is a very special girl, just like my sister's daughter Rebecca. Don't they just melt your heart sometimes! These special needs children just have so much love in them. She is a beautiful girl!
Lucy, she's very beautiful, and very right! How lucky you are to have eachother!
That is a very touching post, Lucy! You both are lucky to have each other.
yep--you are a lucky Mama! I am too--my daughter has Down's Syndrome and we often comment that some people just don't know what they are missing by not having a "special" child in their life. But on some days...... LOL
Lucy: She is so pretty and yes, you are lucky to have each other!
