Oldie

Because I am busy with finishing my purple stars I will show you a "oldie"! It is one of my first little quilts. I made it with the inspiration from the book "Little Quilts". I also tea dye it to get it aged. I am so happy with the result. It is hanging in my living room for years And it never bored me.

I got from a few of you the question how it is with my Dad. Well his recovery is very slow. Physical he is oké. But he is feeling himself very down. You know there is no go in him . He is sitting in his chair and don't like to talk . Watch only some tv and then went to bed for a sleep. He need to get faith in his body again. And I believe that is the hard part. It was the third time that the cancer was back . He need to wait for the next scan and then we know if the surgery indeed took the cancer away . He is worried about that . He still have a catheter straight through his back to the kidney.( he have now one kidney left ) In the kidney is still a stone. In may we hear when the surgery is from removing the stone. Well I am hoping for the spring I think that the sun and warmth can get my father out of his chair. I know he loves the sun and enjoy it in the garden.

This picture is taken when we were dancing at a party. I think about 3 years ago . I love this picture we both are so happy.

A few days ago I was chatting with Kathie. She told me that she is busy with no more than 3 quilts at the same time. I remember when I start with quilting I was busy with two quilts at the same time. One with piecing and one with quilting. I only worked with the hand. So piecing take about the same time as the quiltingpart. When I was ready with a whole quilt next was pieced and ready for quilting. Very relax. But a few years ago I discover my sewing machine. Ohh and there it went "wrong"........ Tops are growing and finishing a quilt is becoming behind :c( . These days I love my sewing machine .

Oké I was chatting with Kathie and I thought :I pick up my purple string star ( which is already half done) and I make a commitment with myself to finish this quilt first and then I can start with a new quilt !!! That must be a good feeling :c)

Do you remember that last when I have had all the sick people in my house ?? I was making a new quilttop. Well this is the result!

From my leftover triangles I needed to make this weekend this little quilt. It is always fun to do a mini ! The brokendishes block is finished about 2 inch . Now I need to quilt them . The little I can do between, but the large quilt is on my pile of "need to quilt tops".....

Gee's Bend

This weekend we were with the shop at a quilshow in Rijswijk. When I walked to the toilet I came through a bookstand . And there it was........ I saw a very big huge book. I take a look and it was saying to me : buy me,buy me. :c) . I am so happy with it. The quilts are made by Afro Americans . The woman tell their story's and most are with a lot of wisdom.

I will share with you one story which is very impressive to me.

Thrilled !!!!

Yesterday I got the new Quiltmania issue 52! They published a article from the show in France last october. I was already thrilled that my quilt "Bloemen" was in the show. (See my post from Nov. 7 ) But now I found page full my quilt in the Magazine !! OOhhh I am so thrilled. It is a beautifull picture . The magazine is from France . It is in english available in the US. Take a look at the pictures and you will understand that I am so thrilled :c)
