apron

Do you know that this lady needs an apron while cooking cleaning gardening etc... And I don't mean an apron but yes an APRON! I don't know how but everytime when I am doing chores I make a mess of my clothes.. I saw an apron on Jewel's beautiful blog that is made for me ... I only could say oohh and aahhh. I had to make one myself.

First you have to find perfect fabric. Well I can tell you IKEA has. It is nice, cheap and sturdy! I I took my used apron for a pattern ,I know it has to be bigger...

Then it is just cut and sew ...... and taaa daaaahhh a very nice apron!

My 15 years old daughter was so friendly to take pictures of me. Smiley pictures of a happy mom. But 15 years old daughters aren't doing anymore what mommy says.....

so here you are, a not so happy mom's picture

The night dress I hold in this picture was one belonged . Yes I wore it when I was little and now Isis is wearing it :-)
In the afternoon a father of isis' friend picked up his daughter. I opended the door with my apron on. ( it was dinnertime ) He looked at me and asked me with a grin on his face: Afraid of making a mess ????

Gosh Lucy, I don't think there is anything that you can't look at and not be able to make! You just look at something, snip snip, sew sew, and TA DA! You're just too cute with your TA DA's!

Hello Lucy,
I love your apron. Looks great, especially the crossover on the back. Nice design.
By the way, I'm also from the Netherlands. Happy stitching dutch quilter.

Oh Lucy! I love it! I need an apron too - and I love how it criss-crosses in the back instead of around my neck. Around my neck always bothers me! This is perfect! Is the pattern on her blog? I need one!

What a lovely apron on a lovely lady :-)
Honestly - it looks like an apron I could wear - and I should - often mess my clothes when cooking.

That's a great apron. I'm pretty messy myself when I cook!

Aprons are wonderful even when you aren't messy. The friend's father was so funny. You look nice in an apron. It turned out lovely. I wear my apron often. I want to make several more.

Love your new header. Are those quilts that you bought while on the road with Bonnie to Padukah??

Love your APRON! My mom is always making them for me- I wear them every day! I probably have 8 or 9!I blame my messes on my sweet children- shame on me! But truthfully, I am to blame! Little Abe(4) does get jelly on me when he hugs, so the apron is a needed armor! And my dh finds them quite appealing!

Dearest Lucy, your apron is gorgeous and you are just beautiful! I'm going to check into IKEA for fabric for aprons, too--great idea. Very cute mary janes, too! Thanks for including the *not so happy mom photo--loved it :o)
Sending love your way, dear friend.

Oooh -- love the apron. I've been looking for something to make so dd and I can play with paint and other gooey stuff without ruining our clothes! This is definitely an idea!

I really could use an apron or two around here as well! I always get my belly wet or dirty by leaning against the counter, or the back of the quilting machine table and I get smudges on my clothes!

I'm going to have to make some aprons!

What a lovely picture the last one! You look great, an like a true housewife on the prairie...It's meant to be a compliment! I'm stunned to hear that you've made the pattern of your quilt yourself, or did I misunderstand?? And I love your heading photo...
Today me and my 87 year old mother visited my dad's grave. It's very strange, now it's approx. 7 weeks since he passed away. I can't believe it.

Lucy - I love your version of the apron - I always wear one especially if I'm frying something as I've ruined far too many teeshirts with fat splashes in the past - I love the way you've done the straps so you don't have to tie anything - brilliant!!!

Jeanne said...

I love your apron! Nothing to tie in the back makes it even better. It looks so comfortable. You did a super job making it.

What fun to read all this talk about aprons! I love aprons, too (and esp love this APRON that you just made). I wear them all the time. I wish I could wear one to work, because when I eat lunch at work I always drip food on myself and stain my clothing. Nines doesn't know that her husband finds aprons appealing becuse she forgot to put clothes on underneath! hahaha!!

I missed placed your blog and just now found it, I've missed reading about you, you look beautiful in your new apron, and love the shoes, would wear an apron if I ever cooked. Love your little snip it quilt, you have a perfect eye for color. Nancy in MT

hahahaha.. you made the apron very excited for Nines ;-) . It is indeed very fun to read all the apron stuff... My best friends reaction was when she saw my apron. : Ohh Lucy this isn't big enough for you . You need a tube from fabric, start on the bottom and closed around the neck maybe then I'll stay clean ......
And she pointed a spot on my bottom hahahaha

What a cute apron. I also love the wall of little quilts you posted earlier. How do you hang them on your wall? I would love to make some small quilts and hang them but not sure how to do it. Terry
