Last Saturday I taught an appliqué class in Amsterdam. One of my students showed me the newest McCall's Vintage Quilts. She offered me to borrow it from her. As soon as I came home I nestled myself on the couch with a cup of coffee and the magazine. Then it happened: I saw an irresistible quilt! Oh, what a beauty! I mailed Kathie, Bonnie etc. to show this inspiration. Kathie said: "Go for it Lucy"! And she wrote this very inspiring post. I received mails from other women who love to join us. What to do?? Yes, I dug in my closet to search for fabrics. It made me so happy. I think this quilt will get me out of my quilting dip.
Thanks Kathie :-)
Lucy
update: Lorre and Patty decided to join us. This is going to be fun :-)

Don't have to say "go girl" 'cause by the looks of it, you're allready going! :) Lots of squares, but great quilt!
This will be fun Lucy!
I know you will be done with this quilt way before me!
ironing my fabrics now but I really have to finish my other quilt first!
Kathie
Have fun, Lucy. This looks like a wonderful quilt to inspire you.
Oh it looks like fun! Enjoy it -- you have to love a project that gets you excited!
I like the range of colors in your fabrics, they are so inspiring. Have fun...I know you will.
Oh, This will be so fun. :-) I read Kathie's and Now you are already start to sewing! Enjoy!
Another beauty *s*
I seem to remember you were in a little slump! Glad your energy returned! This will be a beauty!
way to go, lucy!! i was just over visiting kathie and saw that she's joining you. YAH!! :o)
i was telling kathie that i fell in love with the first quilt pictured in that magazine. it's in another quilting book of mine and barbara snyder made it. now that it's published, i've kinda lost the desire. we'll see.
can't wait to see your progress!
I am glad you found a quilt to inspire you back! It is such a beauty, it would be hard to resist. And it is a good idea to make it as a sew along.
The colours you chose are lovely, just the right thing to brighten these dark winter days. Take care.
Oh, the perfect quilt. Wouldn't I love to join in but I have so many things started....
Glad you found your way out of your slump. Love this quilt and also wish i could sew along..
Dont you love how inspiration comes! Thanks for sharing and I can't wait to see the progress.
I love this magazine, but we hardly ever see it in Australlia. I'm glad it's inspired you to get back into piecing.
And that photo of the featherweight, the fabric and the cup of coffee is what pleasure is made of, no?
It's so much fun to make a quilt with other people. I'm making a Shakespeare in the Park quilt with others.
I also have that magazine, but decided not to make it because of all the little squares - maybe it could be done by strip piecing like Bonnie does in the directions for her Trip Around The World quilt?
I love your new banner photo.
I like your new banner also. It is fun to sew along with friends, isn't it? It helps me to stay focused and end up with a finished project instead of a UFO. I belong to a group of quilters that get together only occasionally now days. There are some very competitive spirits in the group. I try to keep up with the front runner, but she always gets done before me. Sometimes she even gets two done to my one! But it does help me to get mine done, also. Glad you have a project which excites you.
Lucy, that's going to be a beautiful quilt! I love the colors! January's gray days have a way of putting us all in a slump don't they!!! And I see you have a cup of wonderful Dutch coffee on your table!! I miss Dutch coffee and the coffeemilk! My husband is going to the Netherlands in a month and I have my list ready of things for him to bring back all ready for him!!
beautiful and just bought my fabrics too, but they a little different for the colors
Such Pennsylvania colors! I have some pink, red and yellow quilt tops I bought up there that are so wild I love them! This will be a great quilt. I went online and ordered the magazine....like I don't have enough projects on the table!
