I thought I would try and knit a small (not too small) bear. Now I am really a beginner knitter, hope this isn’t too hard.
oh my, look at these small ears!! I didn't realize that the bear would be this small.
I just continued knitting, even when I had my doubts that these parts would ever be a bear!!!
After pressing it looked much better. At least I could recognize 'bear parts' :-) very small, much smaller then I thought before I started this.
The book said that you can make a bear in a few evenings... I needed more evenings then a few! Finally a bear was born, the cutest bear I ever have seen ;-) Wow did I really make that!!
Now he needs a name (I think it’s a he, what do you think?) .. Maybe you can help me name my new little friend?
Lucy

I think he looks like a Reginald or Clarence. Absolutely adorable!

I just love your bear! He is absolutely adorable! I think you should name him Joep. And then tell us Americans how to pronounce that!
:)
Very cute bear,and quilt.
Very cute, indeed! Why not call him Obama? No one would get offended, I hope...
He is a very handsome little fellow. And you say you are a beginner? I love the little quilt he's sitting on too. I once had a little bear named Merriweather. I like that name.
Explaination: You know Rooswealth had Teddy...and one expression for teddy bear in Norwegian is BAMSE. Got it?
And btw. your knitting is excellent!
He is ADORABLE!!! And since he is a "knitted" bear...what was the name of the "sweater boy" who wanted the picture from Rene's gig?? We can name him after HIM!! *LOL*
Bonnie
Aww...he is so sweet. I'd call him Mr. Buttons.
Hello Lucy,
Yes it's a boy, definitely! He's very cute! Perhaps this is the real Earl Grey?

Oh my goodness...he is adorable! You must have never ending patients to knit such a tiny thing out of nothing more than a bit of thread. I would name him "Thread E. Bear"
Awww! He is the cutest thing. I think I might have to try a little bear someday! You did a great job, how exciting that you jumped right in and found out you could knit a little bear! He'll always be special to you! You might call him Tennyson.
Mr. Buttons was also my first thought, but then the next one was Mr. Thimbles. He is going to go perfect with you mini quilts!
hans. that's the name that came to mind when i first saw him. he looks like a hans. :o)
...and you say you're just a beginner. ha! wonderful job on the little guy!
tracey
He is so cute and you did such a great job! He does look so cute with your quilt. So fun!
Absolutely A-D-O-R-A-B-L-E!!! You must be a very advanced beginner. Can you give us the "isbn number" on the book? As for a name...I think Tiny fits him;)
How cute!!! I can't even manage a dishcloth!! Can I have the ISBN # too...then I can buy the book for my DD and she can make one (she can knit) :o)
You never cease to amaze me Lucy! He's adorable. I think his name is Bernard!
Oh, what a cute little bear! And its definitely a "he"... He looks a bit like a Henry... :-)
Pedi
Earl Grey is a cute idea....but I also like Toby. I don't know why that popped into the brain today. He is way cute.
What a cute bear! I'm glad he already has a quilt to keep him warm.
Oh he is so cute. It looks like a lot of work.
He is definitely a he. I think his name should be Bearthold.
Your bear is WONDERFUL!! I don't think I've ever seen a cuter bear either. He looks comfortable sitting on your mini quilt :0)
He is soooo sweet and looks like a Bruno to me :o)
He's so cute! I can't think of any name suggestions.
op zn Brabants: KEI leuk!
I have that book too - your bear is delightful.
Oh my, he’s too cute! As it’s a beginner’s knitting project for you and so well succeeded, made at the beginning of a new year, I think HOPE is a fitting name for the little guy!
I also love the suggestion made by Paula, Earl Grey!
Ah, a mini-bear on a mini-quilt.!!!
He looks like he needs hugs.
Loz
How can I not love him!!! ((hugs))
So many cute names suggested! You decide!
so cute! you are talented.

Oh goodness, isn' this just precious! Loving it! I am trying to learn to knit and I can't imagine even trying to make that. Today I practiced basic knit and purl stitches while at quilt bee because I was sitting next to my friend who knits so well and she has been helping me. You are so talented.
I think he looks like a "Barney" for some reason. Sorry I forgot to add this to above comment.
CW
Fuzzy Wuzzy came to mind.
Oh, precious. Must have been tedious to do. All the pieces looked confusing, but you got it all together. Maybe he is just 'Precious'.
You have lots of good suggestions to choose from.
too cute ! your are an accomplished knitter too !
He looks like a Felix to me. Very nice job.
Heidi
He (most defiantly a He) is wonderful. So expressive. I sort of like the Obama suggestion...maybe stitch the inauguration date on him somewhere?!
groetjes,
Ineke
What a delightful bear - I've just started knitting again - haven't done any for about 17 years - well done - I think he should be called 'Smokey' or 'Marl' - and he looks like he belongs on that mini quilt
I love your bear and would be ready to take it to bed. I think Tiny or "Kleintje" since he is dutch would be very appropriate!
He is so ADORABLE! For a name: how about Corduroy, the cute little bear who loses the button to his corduroy suspenders? Here's a link to the children's book: http://www.amazon.com/gp/reader/0140951148/ref=sib_dp_pt#reader-link
Great work, Lucy!
Really stinkin' cute!
I love the name Thread E. Bear that someone said already. Instead of Teddy Bear...this one is THREAD E. Bear!!! HOW CUTE!!!
How about 'Bjorn', the Swedish word for bear? He is very lovely - I wish I had the pattern!
I just took a second look at the little bear and he has the same face and expression as my dog, my little bordertje, 'Logan' - maybe they could share a name?
Particulièrement charmant ! So nice ! Brothers here :

Thanks for all you do !
No wonder you love him! We all do too.
How about Barry for his name?
He looks like a Clancy and all so CA-ute! I hope you'll make more and consider sending one my way! LOL
He is the most adorable little thing! Cute, cute, cute! Oh, so tiny --- you have most patience! It seems he knows he was created to grace one of your mini quilts. I believe he looks like his name should be Rainier.
:) LaTeaDah
I like Thread E. Bear as well.
My alternate suggestion for a name is Reagan. He sure is cute!
Oh he is adorable! I think he looks like an Angus.
There is a smile in my mind when I look at your finished knitted bear. He is delightful. I love Earl Grey. Well done!
Oh, your bear is just the cutest!
: )
Oh he looks like a Randolph Fitzgerald the Third but everyone just calls him Randy.
(You are quite the talented knitter!)
Oh Lucy - he is ADORABLE! He is soo cute! I can't knit at all, and don't think I want to start - then I would never get any quilting done!
How Cute! I think he looks like "Samson". Strong, determined, and oh so lovable. :D
Levon?
Ted?
Mycroft?
Very cute little bear.:)
Adorable! Maybe, like a two year old, my favorite name would simply be, 'mine'!
Goed gelukt. Is dat even toevallig?
Groetjes

That is definitely the most handsome bear I've seen! Very good job.
He's absolutely perfect Lucy! Gee - if you don't find something Dutch for me you could always make me a bear! I'm kidding - way to much work!
Absolutely adorable! You did a wonderful job.
so incredibly charming and vintage looking... Ah, sweetness!
~Emily
Keuzes, keuzes.
groetjes, Evelyne
