Jacob's Ladder

It has been a long time since I posted.

Gré Koopman, the shopowner of De Sampler(where I work and teach), my boss passed away. She had been fighting for cancer for a short year. Till the last moment she was so positive and tried to go to the shop everyday she could. I will miss her.

Our summerbreak is over. The kids are going back to school next week. I had no luck this summer. I'm dealing for three weeks with a terrible infection which even brought me to hospital for a few days. I'm feeling better now so time for me to sew again :-)

I started a Jacob's ladder. Love the antique feel of it. And funny thing is that I have been listening a lot to Jakob Dylan lately. I love his music. His band is called The Wallflowers and yes he is the son of Bob Dylan. (the Wallflowers One Headlight)

I'm also very happy to tell you that one of my quilts is published in the summer special of Quiltmania. I love the picture of my quilt. The photographer of Quiltmania did a great job!

Sorry to hear about your Summer Lucy. I hope you will continue to feel better. Sewing is often the best way to be comforted.

I will remember Gré as a very positive and kind person. She will also be missed by the customers of De Sampler.

P.S. LOVE Jakob Dylan! Have you bought his solo CD? Very different from when he was with the Wallflowers, but I like it. The acoustic style is soothing.

take care, girlie!

Dear Lucy, I am so sorry to hear of your boss's death. I hope the shop will continue somehow. And I am sorry to hear of your medical problems this summer......But good news that you are feeling better now and sewing and enjoying music. I haven't heard any of Jakob Dylan's music and will have to find some........I had a better summer with a new grandaughter born in July and the news that my other daughter Alice is expecting a baby in March. I'm on a grandmother roll here! May you find that life is good! Congratulations on another magazine article with your work in it. I was able to get a copy of the last Quiltmania with you and Bonnie in it and will certainly look for this. I hope you blog more now you feel better. I hope you are not too burned out with this. You have a lot of followers and fans!

Lucy, so nice to see you back after your unfortunate summer. To have been ill and face the loss of your boss (who most likely was also a friend) is most unfortunate. Perhaps now that the children will be back in school you will have some well deserved time to yourself to recoup your strength.
I look forward to purchasing the Quiltmania issue when it is available.
Best regards

I have missed you and want you to know that I care about you. The sorrow of caring for a boss/friend who is struck by cancer is a very deep pain. To know that she is in a better place and not suffering is the only thing that helps ease the sorrow. A very dear friend, Colleen, about 3 weeks ago, died from cancer, and I am so very grateful that she was in my life, as I know that you are grateful the Gre' was in your life. I send you my deepest sympathy, and care that you heal with time from your sorrow.

It is very special that during this time you had your quilt published. I remember you mentions something about keeping it a secret and now we all know why. Congratulations on an accomplishment that is a tribute to your talent.

Who looks after the mother when she is sick? It is hard most of the time when one gets sick, and we are all guilty of doing more then we should. I wish I could be an angel who looks after mothers when they get sick. With being sick and mothering I remember who much I tried to get well and care for the family. It is hard and as a matter of fact, Colleen, my friend who died, is someone who mothered me when my hands hung down. I hope you have someone around you to lift you up while you recover and become strong again.
Thinking of you.
Take care my blog friend.
