Applique is my favorite technique! I love machine piecing, I love to sew pieces together by hand, love handquilting, knitting, cross- stitching (and I think rug hooking, if I knew how to do it)….. but when I pick up an appliqué project it feels like I’m ‘coming home'.

I also love tulips. Maybe it’s because I’m Dutch. I don’t know… Yesterday I was digging in my unfinished projects, especially my appliqué projects and I didn’t realize that I started so many tulip quilts/ blocks.

I just finished my tulip tile block.

This is a part of a big four block appliqué I hope to finish one day...

A block I made inspired by an antique quilt I found on the internet.

Another block. Inspired by an antique quilt on ebay. I also made it with printed fabrics to see what I like..

A tulip block on point.

Another four block I'm making....
and pfew, I also have finished quilts with tulips!

I want to end this post with my favorite quilt I made till so far!
Lucy
(Who didn't show you all tulip quilts
ideas I want to make in my lifetime, otherwise this post would be way toooo long)

No posts of yours are way too long. Just inspiring for me... Your tulip blocks and quilts are beautiful.
OOOh you make me want to start on tulip blocks too - They are so lovely! Too many other projects to finish first though....
Love your tulip blocks and the quilt is gorgeous! I have about 20 tulip blocks that my grandmother appliqued years ago - probably in the 40's or 50's. I really need to get them put together.
Tulips put a smile on my face. They are such a happy flower - it's the one I loved to draw as a child. Your tulip projects are so pretty! I hope to see both your four block projects finished one day. They really look great!
Oh- don't we all LOVE tulips? I have never met a tulip I didn't like and Lucy, yours are breathtakingly lovely! I wish I could see your ideas as well! this year I decided I want to learn to applique well. And I started it with tulips! :) lovely pictures! groetjes uit Cyprus!
I love them all!
In nature and quilting the variety and beauty of tulips seems to be never ending *s*
I guess all of us love tulips and I really, really love your tulip blocks you have made...and your quilts! Applique is a wonderful technique and it is something I've only been doing for the last five years. The more I applique, the more I love it:)
I love tulips! They all are so pretty!
I absolutely love that tile applique!
Your Tulip Tile block is so creative! I enjoyed seeing your new blocks, and revisiting some favorites.

Lucy, Love the tulips and all the block ideas. I recently made a wall hanging with three tulips.
My daughter lives in Amsterdam. She moved there about 3 years ago. She says the tulips are beautiful in the spring! Some day I will go to visit her in the spring.
Thanks for sharing!
Hello Lucy, I just love your tulip blocks. I am finally working on the your pattern that you sent me from your magazine. You have shown some wonderful combinations of greens, pinks and reds. Your work is always beautiful and inspirational. Ann ~ Australia xx
I love your applique work--especially like that tile tulip.
I've been working on pieced tulips for my parents' 60th anniversary celebration this summer.
I love tulips also, the more the better when I plant them. I also love applique........I just won a wonderful vintage tulip quilt on ebay today..............I love all the squares you have made, they would look nice all put together.............have a great weekend. Hugs Mary
I love a bit of piecing but applique is my first love too and it's such a delight to see your applique projects and the tulips incorporated in them.
O wat mooi!!!ons huis staat vol tulpen maar dit inspireerd tot wat moois aan de muur! maarja eerst wat afmaken haha!
Your tulip blocks are perfect for me to imagine spring is getting close in Central Oregon.
You have enough blocks to put together a tulip sampler quilt!
I love ALL your tulip projects/blocks. I think my favorite is the 4 block with the feathers. If only there was time for all the ideas... :0)
Wow, I love all of these tulip quilts. Very pretty!
I love your tulip tile block. What an interesting technique. I love tulips, too - maybe because I'm also Dutch! The tulips in my yard are SO close to blooming, and I can't wait!
all gorgeous tulips lucy!
Bedankt voor je bezoekje! Mooie blog hier, en prachtfoto's.
Hi Lucy,
Are you the Lucy who teaches the sampler-course in Haarlem? If you are, you are my mums idol at the moment... She can't tear herself away from quilting. If you are not, I'm just in love with your blog & the quilts you make...
greeting,
Marieke
These are so beautiful! I think your tile tulip block is the first tile block I have ever really really loved. And I have the book......My mother could applique so well and made three full sized quilts that were applique, and I really should try again, and keep on trying, because the results are so wonderful. But I wonder if it could ever feel like "coming home" to me? Somehow I doubt this!
Oh those tuplips (the real ones) are gorgeous. And I"m still so in love with your string tuplip quilt! I"m back and had and AMAZING time!
I love tulips and your ones are great. hugs
you have enough beautiful tulip block to put together into a large quilt :) You do beautiful work. I love applique too.
That tulip tile block is beautiful!! I've not seen anything like it before. a whole quilt like that would be exquisite!
any blocks you don't know what to do with? Project Linus takes 12" blocks, quilted and bound, for small babies in ICU! just so you know! :)
Love your tulip story....I'm a sunflower girl.
Okay, you have inspired me! I keep telling myself I'm going to do needle-turn applique and keep putting it off!
Tulip lover here as well! Oh my yours are JUST BEAUTIMOUS!!!! LOVE!!! I just cut out some tulip "parts" last week (you're much farther than I-lol) I can't wait to make some blocks with them!! Thanks for sharing!!
I love tulips too and am really inspired by all your projects. Thanks for sharing.
Carol

These are amazing!!! You're very talented!
You should make a tulip quilt out of the random tulip blocks you have already pieced together. It would be very pretty.
I stumbled on to your blog and found myself entranced. I love your quilting, embroidery and your photography. All beautiful. I'm a beginner quilter, applique especially. I am really inspired by your work here, it has a kind of whimsy feel. Thanks- Katharine Lion
