Mary Elizabeth and Biz both make incredible quilts from incredible small pieces. Mary Elizabeth recently started a very nice blog.
When I browsed through their new book Small Pieces Spectacular Quilts my eye fell immediately on the Wassenaar windmill quilt. As a Dutch woman who loves windmills was directly inspired by this one.
I choose some fabrics and decided to make a block. Wow the pieces are small. Smaller than you think at the picture.
Aren't these blocks adorable? I hope to make more coming week and I will share with you my progress.
The book has many projects I like. When you visit the blogs which were a part of this tour you can see more inspirations from different quilts from this book.
You can read more about it here <-click
Did I tell you that you can find beautiful antique quilts on the first pages of the book?
Mary Elizabeth was so kind to send me two books and one of them you can win with my giveaway.
If you leave a comment on this post I will draw a winner this Friday evening.
This is 'De Zandhaas' a windmill in Santpoort near by my home. It still works. I love to buy my flour for my homemade bread from them. So I will name my quilt Sanpoort's windmill :-)

I had not seen either of them before but they look very interesting. I have never made a quilt with very small blocks but I think I would like the challenge. Thank you.
I own both books so please count me out. Just wanted to say your windmill blocks are so cute. I like your color choices. I have the exact purple fabric that is the background in the windmill quilt. I love purple and bought yards of it.
Your work is beautiful! I'm currently making the Dear Jane quilt so I'm not shy about small pieces of fabric...love working with them. Thanks for the chance at the give-away!

Thank you Lucy, and to Mary Elizabeth and Biz for this kind offer. I have drooled over this book on several different blogs and booksites. I am a quilt book hound, I love and covet most any kind of quilt books. Especially traditional and contemporary art quilts with a traditional spin to them. I love your blog, especially that you post sparingly, when you do post it is always so worth waiting for.
Blessings,
Rondi

De titel van het boek

Gr.Renske
thank you and i would love to win it
love that book
OH, I would be delighted to win~ Thank you for the chance.~
Lucy~
The book looks like it has some wonderful projects like the Windmill one you selected. I do worry when it becomes hard to tell what is the actual piece and what is just the seam allowance of the piece - those look like really tiny bits your blocks are made of. Thank you for having the book give away.
